How exactly do they get housemate's ex-partners to go on Big Brother?

Think about it. As far as we know, random people go along to audition. Now unless people go along as a couple and split up during the audition process, how are the producers going to know who your ex partners are and whether they're willing to take part? It all seems a bit fishy to me, to expect us to believe that these housemates aren't even aware that their exs are taking part.

Because each "contestent" has to fill in a huge and detailed questionnaire with details of friends and families. Then researchers speak to relatives and friends to find out as much as possible about them. Obviously not every "ex" they contact agrees to take part.

It should seem fishy, because it is. Those shows "plots" are completely scripted, top to bottom.
