Why is my Macbook camera not working in iMovie?

I have a white macbook and my camera works on other applications like Skype and facetime but not iMovie.

Why is this the case? I don't have other applications open and my OS is OS X Yosemite.

Update:

I select the camera icon in iMovie and it says "no camera found"

    iMovie can NOT directly access your iSight WebCam.

    So Use FaceTime or a Smart Phone to create a Mac-compatible video, for example.

    Then, you can edit it in iMovie.
