  • Should I leave my current job after just three months?

I'm struggling to stay at my current job. To provide some back story, I am five years out of college and my first post-grad job was four years.

I left there a little over a year ago for my second employer, I was incredibly unhappy there from the first day and decided to go back and look for something else. I ended up getting my third job working for a software company in their marketing, wasn't treated very fairly and it became clear their expectations and what I was hired to do were two different things and they wanted someone with more experience, so I was let go.

That was back in March, I worked two part-time jobs for a little over a month and got my current job during that time. I've been here since early April/late March and I'm not happy here either. It's not in line with my goals and I just jumped into it because I wanted something full-time. I don't fit in with the company culture, I'm not sure what the expectations are and I am miserable coming in everyday.

I've begun looking elsewhere, but I'm feeling as if things don't improve somehow within a month that I should try and go back to my part-time jobs. What should I do? How do I explain all this career hopping to a potential employer? I'm concerned how it would look.

  • How can I show my boss I am growing in understanding our industry and products?

I was told today by my boss that she is not seeing me understand or grasp fully what we do or our industry. I am new to the company and industry, having been here for three months. What are some things I can do to show her that I am working harder on getting better?

  • What do you do if you have feelings for someone with a guarded heart?

I am interested in this girl “Lauren” that I met months ago through a mutual friend. She’s really cool and we have similar interests, she is also incredibly beautiful. I want to ask her to be my valentine but our friend warned she has a guarded heart but is an amazing person. She wasn't trying to scare me but just wanted to let me know she's been hurt before and has those walls. She also said that she is a very loving and caring person deep down. Lauren and I speak now and again, we're friends on Facebook and talk through there a lot and on Instagram. I also text her pretty regularly of recent. What do I do?

  • Is it a good sign when a company calls you a few hours after a phone interview for an in person one?

I had a phone interview the other day and a few hours later, I received a call from the company asking for an in person interview. I was stunned since I thought it would be a day or two later, does this usually bode well?

  • How do I ask out this girl I met at a store when she works there?

Let me start off by saying that I know it is in bad taste to ask someone out when they're working. Particularly because they're not there to get hit on or asked out, they have nowhere to go and it could get uncomfortable.

That being said, the past few times I have been at my local GameStop, I have seen this girl there that works there and she's really nice and really cute. We always chat each other up and she seems really cool, the last time I was in there she told me she thought my shirt was cute (a sleeping Snorlax from Pokemon). I want to ask her name and talk to her more, but I don't want to do it the wrong way.

Particularly given where she works, I'm sure a bunch of dudes come in there and try to ask her out often and I don't want to be one of those guys. I also want to respect her and her comfort level, but is there a way I can ask her out in a non-creepy or confrontational way? My best friend is encouraging me to do so by asking her what types of games she plays, ask her name and then ask if I could buy her a coffee. Advice she said has worked before when she gave it to someone in a similar position and it worked.

  • How do you make the jump from working in sales to working in marketing?

I'm currently working in sales and have been working in inside sales for the past several years. My real passion is in marketing, advertising and communications and my degree was in English and Journalism.

Up until now I thought I could get better at sales and then transfer that to marketing since the two are symbiotic. But I'm starting to doubt that and wonder if I should just jump into marketing. What is the best way of doing that? Is there a way to make that transition? What positions should I be looking for?

  • Does the winky emoji mean anything?

I'm friends with this girl and we met through her ex, she's still friends with him and I'm friends with him too. They dated and broke up a couple of times and he's now moved on and is with someone else.

I haven't heard from her in a while and yesterday got a Facebook message from her saying "Hey there! Wanna hang out sometime? ;)" and I'm wondering if she was being flirty or just being friendly.

We decided to hang out soon, grab a bite to eat and such. But I'm unsure of what she's looking for. Thoughts?

  • Is it a bad idea to stay friends with your ex-girlfriends?

Asking out of curiosity, do you think it is a bad idea or a good idea? Like if it ended but not on horrible terms.

  • Should I give this girl my email or would it be too much?

I'm probably overthinking things here, but I wanted to get a second opinion.

Long story short, I met this girl at my last job and she left the company for a full-time position. She was really cute, sweet and hilarious. I never spent a lot of time with her but I had a crush on her and wanted to ask her out. I never did but I also have a policy of not dating co-workers. Late last year I ran into her again at a work event (she was there volunteering) and I wanted to send her a message afterwards saying it was good seeing her. The only way I have to get in touch with her is Linkedin and I know that's not a site for dating, but I at least wanted to send her a message. It's been a few months since and I've finally decided to work up the courage.

I finally sent her a message and then later in the day, I ran into her at an event. She answered my questions there and she sat in front of me for the event (a speaker) and my heart was pounding. It's amusing and annoying that I feel so nervous around her, I went to the bathroom and was going to leave before I made a fool of myself. Sure enough, I ran into her as I came out and we talked a bit more. I said we should grab coffee, she said "yeah definitely."

I want to follow up with a new message and give her my email. What should I say? Should I offer her my email or is that too much?

  • What should I do about my HSA regarding taxes?

I was doing my taxes using TurboTax and it told me that I made an excess contribution to my account and that the funds are subject to additional taxes if not withdrawn. How do I withdraw the funds? Do I need a new document from the bank or HR? How does this work?

  • When buying your first car, do you need insurance to drive it off the lot?

I'm looking to buy my first car (at the age of 25, lame I know) and I'm confused about insurance. What do you need to present to drive off the lot? Do you buy the car and then get the insurance and the dealer holds onto the car while you get the paperwork? I'm not sure how it works out.

  • Poll: How do you respond to someone asking you to turn in your "man card"?

I've heard this from a few people to other guys, this whole concept of a "man card" is really stupid and ridiculous and it's something I hear mostly from arrogant idiots. I'm curious, how do you guys like to respond to it?

  • Do you believe it's important to check expectations and baggage when in a new relationship?

When you start dating someone new, inevitably you are going to start thinking about all the bad things that happened in past relationships that the other person did. Do you think it's fair to the other person that you are NOW dating to hold onto those things? Or is it important to check that baggage?

  • Has something an ex said to you as the relationship ended made you question part of who you are?

Recently, an ex of mine (we just broke up two weeks ago) said somethings about me that were really hurtful and I felt untrue. She called me irresponsible, unreliable and immature, and since then all I can think is if she is right or if it is just something she was saying. It's gotten in my head and I don't think I can trust myself with anything anymore. Has this happened to you?
