Will allergies eventually go away?

If you subject yourself to what you're allergic to for long enough, will that allergy eventually go away?

For example, if you're allergic to dogs, and you lock yourself in a room with a dog will you eventually stop being allergic to dogs or will you just endlessly keep having a allergic reaction until infinity?

The amount of exposure you told about probably would just cause your allergies to worsen and you could eventually die.

Actually allergy shots work on the principle you mentioned. They are a tiny extract of the the substance to which you are allergic. Over several years the dosage is slowly increased until it is as strong as what you normally encounter. They can start at one part per ten million.

Well, if you are talking about that kind of allergies (related to fear or something) yes, it might. But if we are talking about allergic reactions to something (say rushes from food allergies), no, it will not.
