My dog is sick and I'm concerned about taking him to the hospital?

My dog has been sick for the past 30 hours with diarrhea and vomitting. For the past two hours he's only been dry heaving. He'll sleep for 30 minutes at a time but then will wake up and cry very quietly. I think it's something he might need treatment for, but my mom won't let me take him. Both of his legs are loosing the ability to walk, but he's a very cheerful dog and he has a wheelchair for going outside. Plus we had to put down our dog very resently because of cancer, so I think she'll think it's just going to have a repeat of this.

I doubt informing your mother of laws with persuade her. Call animal control and report that your mother is committing negligence and abuse. Harsh yes, but she is letting your dog slowly suffer a painful death which to me is way harsher. Ask that your tip remain anonymous but inform them that you are her son so you are currently with the dog. They will come to your house and she will have to show them the dog. Either they will force her to take him to the vet or she will have to sign him over and they will take him to a vet. Whatever happens take this secret to your grave because I doubt it will go over well that you called the cops on your mother. Please let us know what happens.

Sounds like parvo, take your pet to the vet now!!!

Family dog, parents responsibility, inform your parents that failing to provide vet care in a timely fashion, as needed, is against the law, abusive, cruel, negligent and a felony punishable by fines/jail time, a lot more than a vet visit.

Your mother is required by law to seek medical treatment for the dog. Fines are heavy. Meantime YOU MUST keep the dog hydrated. MUST. Get a pediatric oral syringe (pharmacie give them away) and squirt half a syringe of water or pedialyte into the back of your dogs mouth every 10 minutes. 2 hours on, 1 off. Keep doing it. Don't feed him anything at all for a couple days at least and then only plain boiled chicken or baby food.

You should most certainly take him to the vet. Also check him for ticks, loosing the ability to walk in the back legs can be caused by a tick.

Your Mom, or anyone who can actually cope like a relative or a neighbor, MUST be asked to help take the poor dog to the vet IMMEDIATELY. Also as someone said already, offer it some Pedialyte (or even Gatorade) to buy yourself a little more time to get to the vet.

Yes, this dog should have seen the vet hours ago.

It shouldn't matter to her at this point if it's cureable or not. If she really wanted to save him then she needs to understand that she shouldn't have waited so long.

It is illegal to deny this dog care.

The dog is currently on the path to a very painful death.

Get it to the vet. Now.

Your hard hearted Mother is breaking the law by allowing s dog to suffer and not providing it with vet treatment.

Its very cruel to let a dog suffer for prolonged periods in the hope it will die and therefore save paying out on the vet.

Nothing anyone on here can do about her attitude unfortunately.

The dog needs to drink to stop dehydration and adding an electrolyte solution from the pharmacy to his water will help with this.

Nothing anyone can about his legs not working though.

He NEEDS a vet. ASAP. like now.

Ps: In the event you cannot obtain any electrolyte, use powdered Glucose in his water.

Sounds like a pretty serious illness. Why won't your mother let you take her to vet?

Anyway, it sounds like it would happen all over again. I'm sorry but spend time with your dog now. Whether he/she pulls through this or not.
