    Haldane said that in response to a question about what science had taught him about god. He was an atheist making a point about the relative abundance of certain things if god actually created the universe as is.

    No. "God's favorite beings" is merely a figure of speech. J.B.S. Haldane appreciated that here are countless stars in the night sky and countless numbers of various beetle species roaming the Earth. Basically, that there are more stars and beetles than anything else.

    I think J.B.S. Haldane has a inordinate fondness for stars and beetles, which he/she projects onto God.
