We call it summer vacation or summer break. A holiday to us is Christmas, Easter, New Years Day.

It can vary. End of May to last week in August for most schools.

There is usually some days off late November for Thanksgiving. At least Two weeks for winter break. And a week off for Soring break. Any time in March/April. Many times around Easter

The "summer break" period in U.S. schools varies, but generally starts near the beginning of June and lasts until early September. There are a number of different school schedules in effect in different parts of the country, so although I have named the "traditional" summer break, you should realize that some areas have "year around" school, and students get short periods of time off during different seasons of the year instead of three total months all at once during summer. For those school districts which adhere to the traditional system, there can be a wide difference in the date on which school actually starts, sometimes falling as early as mid to late August. This is done so that the term totally finishes before the winter break, and students don't return to school after Christmas and New Year holidays to a remainder of two weeks of classes and final exams from a term which wasn't quite completed before the break.

The only defined holidays are for school kids.

We don't do holidays the way they are done in Britain. We all take our holidays at different times

Why have you put this in the UK section?
