In transit through Dubai, will my laptop be searched?

Next week I'm going to be passing through Dubai airport on my way to London, I will only be there for a couple of hours. Will my laptop and other electronic devices be searched? I have a lot of torrented movies and (perfectly legal) porn videos. I'd rather not delete them but don't want to end up a victim of Sharia Law.

They don't search or physically open any transit passenger luggage unless there is a report to customs from another country that a certain piece of luggage contains dangerous or contraband items banned under international conventions like Ivory. Otherwise the normal procedure is normal x-ray for flight security before loading the luggage on the next flight.

As a transit passenger neither your laptop nor any other electronic device will be searched. Even when entering the UAE, there would only be a very small chance that electronic devices are searched.

    THEY CAN BE.

Not a good idea to have this stuff with you.

The Agent you might deal with will decide if they want a closer look.

There is a ridiculously low chance they check your lap top. But if however you get that happen like the chance of getting struck by lightning the consequences are bad.
