  • In transit through Dubai, will my laptop be searched?

Next week I'm going to be passing through Dubai airport on my way to London, I will only be there for a couple of hours. Will my laptop and other electronic devices be searched? I have a lot of torrented movies and (perfectly legal) porn videos. I'd rather not delete them but don't want to end up a victim of Sharia Law.

  • How would you diagnose this person's behaviour?

    Hypothetical situation:

Often when this specific person gets into fights with people she will take a piece of them as a souvenir, such as an ear or a hand. She then hangs these above her bed.

This person has used extreme violence from a very early age, despite having had a relatively normal upbringing. How would you assess such a person?

I would like to add that this person does not exist, I am only wondering what sort of problems such a person may have.

  • Visiting India for the first time, any recommended places?

    Hey people.

I'm a New Zealander heading to India in a month. I have 5 days in Delhi and 14 days in Varanasi. My plan is to take train trips from Varanasi to other places, but I don't actually know where to go from there. I wouldn't mind seeing Southern India but I don't know how long that would take on the train. Do you know of anywhere that isn't more than a day's travel away from Varanasi?

    Thanks heaps.

  • How many bouts of depression before suicide?

5? 10? I feel so heavy, as though I'm just dragging my body places. Drag it to work, drag it to friends... I'm tired of constantly fighting myself, keeping myself from blowing my head off. I'm tired and I just want to lie down and vanish. Gone. Period. Nothingness is better misery.

I'm lonely, I've been slowly dying of loneliness for years. Tried all the different options out there, still alone.

How many times must a person go through this before they end it?

  • Is preventing suicide selfish?

If a person has had enough, if they don't want to keep on going, is it not selfish to force them to stay alive? Making someone go through misery every day just so that you won't miss them seems tantamount to torture.

  • Setting affairs in order before suicide?

If a person plans on killing themselves what should they do to make things easier for others? And don't say "Don't kill yourself", that's not what I'm meaning.

I think the obvious stuff would be the likes of boxing up possessions, leaving a suicide note, arranging who you want your money to go to. Anything I've missed?

  • Can a white tourist pick up girls in India?

I'm not meaning to be disrespectful with this question. Primarily I'm going to India to see the old temples and other sacred places, but I also wouldn't mind having a good time at night.

I'm a 24 year old white guy from New Zealand, in a few weeks I'll be going to Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and probably some other places I don't yet know. How would I go about finding a companion for the night? I'm not interested in prostitutes.

    Thanks

  • What should I have done with my body after I kill myself?

Being cremated and having my ashes thrown in the bin would be appropriate. Your preference?

  • I don't truly love anyone, tired of having no one?

Been suicidal for the last 2 years. 25 year old guy, not very good looking, never had a partner. I'm tired of doing everything alone, think of suicide constantly, don't want to keep suffering. I don't even know what my question is. Sometimes I think I'd be better off cremated and my ashes thrown in the bin.

  • Should I visit New York or Chicago?

    Hello nice Americans.

I'm a New Zealander who's heading to Northern Ireland in August and I'll be stopping in America for a few days, but I can't quite decide where in America I want to go.

I was thinking I'd stop in San Fransisco since it's closest to me and I'll need a break after 14.5 hours flying, but after S.F. I don't know. Should I go to Chicago or New York? I don't plan on renting a car, given that you drive on the wrong side of the road, so I'll just be wandering around the city center.

  • Should I visit LA or San Fransisco?

    Hey people.

I'm a New Zealander heading to Northern Ireland in 3 months and I'll be stopping over in America for a few days on the way. I'm your opinion on which place I should stop in; LA or San Fransisco. I've never been to America before so I don't really know much about either of these places. Basically I just plan on wandering around in the city centre for a few days then head to Chicago, then head to Belfast.

I don't really have time to visit both, I don't have long off work and Northern Ireland is my real destination.

    Thanks guys.

  • Why do people say "things will get better" when there is no proof?

I'm tired, lonely, suicidal. I've heard on here before "don't worry, things will get better" but where is the proof for that? Maybe people just lie so that they won't feel guilty if the person kills themselves; then they can say "oh well at least I tried".

Why would things suddenly get better when the pattern so far has just been loneliness followed by more loneliness?

  • How long to keep putting off suicide?

I'm dying of loneliness. All my friends are getting married, having kids, and I'm just on my own, always on my own. I've travelled around the world, alone, no one to share it with. I go to the park alone, I go shopping alone, I eat out alone.

I always say "just a bit longer, I'll meet someone, a few more months." Months turn into years.

I've gone out, socialised, attended groups/clubs of likeminded people. Exhausted all my options. I feel so tired, every day is just hours of dragging myself to work, moping around, go home and do whatever I want on my own.

    What's the point?

  • Make suicide look like an accident?

People always blame themselves when someone they know kills themselves, I want to avoid this.

I've found a good cliff edge, I am thinking of taking various photos from above with my cannon before I jump, thus making it look like I fell whilst trying to get a good shot.

    Anyone have a better option?

  • Alone, depressed, have no one I love?

I'm a 24 year old guy and have never had a partner. Every day I feel dead. I want a family more than anything but that's never going to happen. I often imagine having someone close to me, reality just makes me think about suicide. I don't even know what my question is.

I go out, socialise, spend time with friends, but I never meet anyone. I don't know how much longer before I kill myself.
