    If x= (y-2)/(1-y) then multiply by (1-y)

    X(1-y)= y-2

    X-xy= y-2

    X+2= y+xy

    X+2= y(1+x)

    (X+2)/(x+1)= y

    Hoping this helps!

    x=y-(2/1)-y

    Step 1: the y cancel each other out

    x=-(2/1)

    Step 2: You multiply the 1 to the other side. To cancel out

    x(1)=-2

    Answer x=-2

    As written, you can't solve for y because y - 2/1 - y = y - 2 - y = -2 (i.e., x = -2). y - y is 0.

    But if you mean x = (y - 2) / (1 - y)...

    x(1 - y) = y - 2 (Multiply both sides by (1 - y))

    x - xy = y - 2 (Finish expansion of the left side)

    x = xy + y - 2 (Add xy to both sides)

    x + 2 = xy + y (Add 2 to both sides)

    x + 2 = y(x + 1) (Factor y out from the right side)

    y = (x + 2)/(x + 1) (Divide both sides by (x + 1)).

    Watch out for lack of parentheses!

    assume it's x = (y-2)/(1-y)

    x(1-y)=y-2

    x-xy=y-2

    solve for y
