Did the FBI director downplay the negligent aspect of Hillary Clinton's email case?

I think most of us are ready to put her email stuff behind us and move on.

He said she was "extremely careless." That's not exactly downplaying it.

He also directly refuted a number of claims she has made on the campaign trail.

He gave a long explanation, but there is a short summary. He could have said, "Hillary is too big to jail."

Not at all. In fact, I think he overplayed it which made the direction of his presentation unclear at times.

It was an extreme pulling of a punch.

Apparently laws only apply to little people like you and me

No, I think he was pretty clear about it.
