Can't a hair dryer be used as a heat gun?

Seems like they're the same things - or is a hair dryer too hot? Or some other reason it'd be unsuitable?

Thanks!

Update:

It's for shrink wrapping books & etc.

Update 2:

Well, going by wattage, hair dryers are right in there with heat guns. More than many, less than some. Don't temperature on hair dryers, though.

Update 3:

^know - Don't KNOW temperatures for hair dryers.

Heat guns get hotter than hair dryers so a hair dryer might not give you the desired effect. It's worth a try though.

Hair dryer is too "cold" heat gun is much hotter and would damage skin.

The problem is temperature. It would be worth a try. Depending on the desired temp. A heat gun is much hotter
