Can't a hair dryer be used as a heat gun?

Seems like they're the same things - or is a hair dryer too hot? Or some other reason it'd be unsuitable?

Thanks!

For most of the things you would use a heat gun on, a hair dryer is not suitable. There is a limit to the heat even the hottest hair dryer will produce, and while it may strip wallpaper, it won't strip paint. Heat guns are designed for heat and their temperatures can range fro 200 - 1000 degrees F. A hairdryer, on the other hand, will max out at about 130 degrees F. Remember, 140 is enough to burn the skin.

    Depends on what your heating.

Basically a hairdryer is a heat gun. But it has its limits
