    I don't know about a movie but there was a TV series about a Scottish vet who worked in the North of England called James Herriot called All Creatures Great and Small

    Maybe it is the TV series from many years ago called All Things Bright And Beautiful about a Yorkshire (?) vet named James Herriot.
