What is the standard Italian accent or dialect?

I know there are various types per each region, but which is the one that is most commonly accepted in things like media and movies?

It Italy..........often people can guess your region of Birth, the second you open your mouth,

    Piedmont, Sicily, Naples, Rome............etc.

Sardo is a Whole other Language entirely, that even most Italians can't understand.

many border regions have a heavy French or German influence.

there is no "standard" accent. It's all a matter of which section you're from. Everyone thinks THEIR accent is the "normal" one and everyone else talks funny.

the one most often mocked and made fun of, in movies and TV, is the accent from Napoli.

Standard Italian would be from Tuscany, albeit the only ones to speak standard Italian are Italian dubbers, if you want to listen to it or learn it, watch an American movie dubbed in Italian.

I'd like to add that while the accent is perfect, it's not the same for the grammar. Italian dubbers, or Italian to translate from English, very often make grammar mistakes, for example they always use the verb ''stare'' instead of the verb ''essere'', which is regional Italian from Rome and the south.

Thanks for the info! I think its funny that the standard accent in Italy is fairly "neutral" seeing as most people think of stereotypical Italian as a expressive language based on high and low tones and find it endearing and romantic.

    Best regards :)
