Yes, he was. The record of the fulfillment of the Hebrew Scriptures Messianic prophecies in Jesus is unmistakable. Messiah is a Hebrew word that means Anointed One, and it corresponds to the Greek word Christ.
For example, these prophecies, given by Isaiah hundreds of years before Christ, are just a few examples:

After reading Prophet Habakkuk 3:13, I came to the conclusion that Jesus could not have been the Messiah because the Messiah cannot be an individual but the People of Israel. Here is what Prophet Habakkuk said: "The Lord goes forth to save His People; to save His Anointed One." That's what Messiah is, the Anointed One of the Lord aka Israel, the Jewish People. It happens that the individual is born, lives his span of life and dies. Are we to expect a new Messiah in every generation? Obviously not! The Messiah does not die; the Messiah is supposed to remain as a People before the Lord forever. (Jeremiah 31:35-37)

Isaiah 53:12 prophesied hundreds,& hundreds of years before Jesus was born, that Messiah will be crucified with criminals..
Well, last I checked crucifixions are no longer performed.
This is just one if the dozens & dozens of the Old Testament prophecies Jesus fulfilled.
It was even prophesied Messiah would be rejected by his own people (Psalms 69:8,& Isaiah 53:3),,& the Jews did reject him.
Two verses prophesy Messiah would resurrect from the dead (Psalms 16:10,& Psalms 49:15)..This is why we have Easter.
Roman guards guarding Jesus's tomb were the only ones to witness the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead,,& then,SURPRISE,SURPRISE,SURPRISE,the World Super Power Roman Empire eventually converted to Christianity,& called Jesus King of Kings. This is undeniable fact.Jesus also showed the Romans miraculous signs from Heaven to prove he was still alive, but the Romans knew beyond a shadow of a doubt Jesus was,& is the only begotten Son of God.
The Romans thought Jews were lower than dirt,& would never start worshipping a lowly Jew carpenter they themselves had crucified as a falsely accused criminal (another fulfilled prophesy Psalms 35:11)..Least of all,the Romans would not start worshipping a FICTIONAL JEW CHARACTER.
Oh no,Jesus WAS real,& the Romans KNEW IT,& they knew Jesus was equal in power & authority to his Father God.By which no one goes unto the Father God accept through his Son,Jesus Christ.

"Messiah"... Just another word you hear everyday on the streets and in locker rooms. Everyone talks about the Messiah and wonders if Jesus was it.
The answer, either yes or no, will be Earth shattering.
Stay tuned...Same time, same forum. tomorrow is release of the scientific information known about who the Messiah really was.

Jesus is not the messiah and only ignorant indoctrinated dumb@$$e$ who whack themselves in the head with a ball peen hammer are silly enough to insist he is. Jesus is the guy who owns the Taco truck that's parked at 3rd and High every Tuesday between 1 and 4. Rolls eyes.

Did you know that there are 2 different Messiahs, a King, and a Priest?
Malachi 4:5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet fbefore the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 6 And he will gturn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and hstrike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

He was and still is, and will always be
Mar 14:61 But Jesus was silent and made no reply. Then the high priest asked him again, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?"
Mar 14:62 Jesus said, "I AM. And you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven
Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
