Help With First Gun Purchase (NC)?
I'm going to purchase my first gun within a few weeks and I'm a bit confused. I plan to have it shipped to a local dealer from a website and pick it up from there. HK 416 .22LR Pistol.
The site I'm purchasing from classifies this as a rifle but the barrel is short and the weapon title includes "pistol" in the name. I read somewhere that SBR's have to have some sort of tax or something along those lines.
Ultimately I'd just like to know if there are any special hurdles I have to go through before I buy. I'm of legal age (19) with a clean record but I want to insure nothing goes wrong once I make this purchase.

If it's a pistol you cannot buy it at 19, you must wait until you're 21. Further, in NC to buy a pistol you must first see your County Sheriff and buy a Pistol Purchase Permit. You must do this each time you plan to buy a handgun, unless you have a CCW, the CCW allows you to buy handguns without first buying a PPP to do so. The firearm in the link you included is indeed a pistol, you will not be able to buy this gun until you are 21 (Federal law for all FFL handgun transfers), and have either a CCW or a PPP (NC State law for all instate handgun purchases, FFL or other)

Its a pistol and you cannot buy it because you are not old enough. Have you actually gone to the gunstore and actually talked to someone in person about this hairbrained idea of yours. You might want to start there.

Have you considered either phoning or walking into the establishment where you intend to buy the gun and asking them exactly what the requirements are?

you don't need it you'll just end up getting shot by a pig which would be a blessing for the national IQ level.
