Why, in the photography section, do people bother to answer where to buy something with common sense, broad responses like Amazon or eBay?
Sometimes it's even worse, like someone will ask, where should I buy a Pentax K1000 or a Polaroid and the answer is thrift or antique stores. Recently, someone asked where to buy a Leica and they were told "where else? The Leica Store". While these are valid responses, to me, they just exemplify that the answerer does not actually know anything about buying these cameras or other photographic gear in good working condition.
That they are unaware of current retailers who are dedicated to the sale of specific items and that they assume that the asker has no common sense and has never thought to look on catch-all sites like Amazon and eBay. Why do so many people answer questions that they clearly don't know the actual answer to?
Is the intention really to honestly help people or just because certain folks like to hear themselves type?

I'd like to think that most people are trying to be helpful. But... then there are the idiots who may, in fact, like to hear themselves type. Don't lose sleep over trying to make sense of what happens here or anywhere else on the internet.

IF individuals are unhappy with the answers they receive here, why don't they do their own Internet search in the first place? Are they incapable of doing that for some reason or do they simply want others to do their work, as servants are hired and paid to do?
When you ask a question on a public forum, you take the good, the bad and indifferent because it is all you'll get here... either take it or do your own research... now, really, isn't that simple?

Why not? If people are too lazy to use a search engine or directory to find answers before asking questions that they can find the answer for themselves, why would you/they expect us to do it for them? 80+ percent of the questions asked here can be answered with a simple search, but most people are too lazy to be bothered to do it for themselves!
