Why does society today think they're Greek and can use philosophy to describe everything around them?

Because everything can, in a way, be reduced to philosophy. Even the argument that you can't or shouldn't would be philosophical in nature, as would a person just giving up and saying it's pointless. It's just a fun little quagmire of complex thought and reasoning.

What evidence do you have to support your argument that society think they're Greek. It's more credible that the EU thinks we're all Europeans, a misconception that the British public have disabused them of.
Philosophic techniques are the best way to consider and describe everything around us, and beyond. It's been tested over thousands of years and created so many other branches of science.

When did the statuate of limitations arrive on philosophy?
Philosophy is original systematic thought in any subject matter. If we stop having original thought the human race will pass from the stage. If nobody systematizes new ideas they cannot be exploited functionally. So what you are saying is why should just die out because we aren't Greek?

Philosophy is not only a greek thing. Humans philosiphise even when we try not to. Example when we are in deep thoughts. Greeks are very philosophical and clever and greeks value education above all but philosophy does not belong to them

Greek's economy is crap now and the government can't be trusted. So even the Greeks do not practice what they preach.

Perhaps you're alluding to "Abrahamic" ("Judeo-Christian-Islamic") emphasis on placing God of Abraham and Noah in the perspective? And that therefore this emphasis is being de-emphasized, as "techne" becomes more "tower of babel-ish"?
Welcome to "Enlightenment" (or "Egoism-ment"?) redux; Wittgenstein understood this to be the contest of philosophy and science (as to which perspective is precedental). Godel, Cohen, Popper et al., have shown that philosophy is necessarily first, insofar as Von Neumannian second-degree framing is necessarily a part of "unanswered questions." However, if said scientists-theorists have the logic of philosophy as part of their "armamentarium," then the division between philosophy and science is nugatory.
A more philosophic arena, still in play, is ethics--not "merely" at the level of current "bioethics", but more fundamentally philosophic--at the level of Kant, even Plato and Plotinus; even this arena may be "reductively approached", i.e., certain value axiomizations are unexamined (e.g., Heidegger, Deleuze, and, currently, Sloterdijk) at the level of Plotinus, Plato, Kant and Husserl.

As to why "society today thinks in a ,Greek, mode," that's a reason why Husserl advocated differentiation re "psychologism," and why e.g. Franz Rosenzweig's work (e.g., "The Star of Redemption") and Martin Buber's work, among others, is germane.
