I would get s new chemicsl free bucket, maybey somthing from the dollar store or five below, fill it half way with tank water and add the fish,
Chances are it will take several more hours to get the tank set up at the other end. And a bucket will hold more oxygen and be less stressfull while he waits. every 2 hours or so, you could use a cup to scoop up some of the water in the bucket, and pour it back in from above the water surface, at a distance and speed that cause it to make bubles as it falls. This will get oxygen into the bucket for him.

Get a bag at the fish store and put him in there . Get a air pump and oxygenate the water for 2 hours and fill bag half with air . Keep the bag in a cooler
UPDATE: also use lots of stress coat . Double manufacturers instructions . Overdosing a little is okay
