Why do people think if they kill themselves people will start to care about them?

Is it because people didn't care about them when they were alive?

People say that because they think the person they're speaking with is hiding or ignoring his care for them.

But they aren't really the ones who commit suicide.

Suicidal people are usually people who's depression has taken total control, who feel lost, and who are secure in thinking that death is a solution. It is an entirely personal decision, usually with zero consideration whatsoever for anybody else and whether or not anybody "cares."

Suicide rarely has that motivation. For some it is that they are so depressed that they see no hope of ever feeling better, and some do it because they want to get back at someone. "I'll kill myself and THEN they'll be sorry!"

I think one of the most popular fantasies is people boo hooing over your casket, sobbing apologies that will never be acknowledged. I've listened to enough drama queens whining about it. Refusing to realize that they drove people away. But I've never known one of these types to attempt it. They're afraid they might succeed.

    Because they are mentally ill.
