Do you think I should?

I m considering going back to being a meat eater. Believe me, I really really really don t want to. But money s tight and it s hard to buy me food. I would love to stay a vegetarian, hell I m even wanting to become a raw vegan. But since there s not a lot of food in the house, I m stuck eating pb&j, cereal, and snack food all the time. If I went back to eating meat maybe I d be eating better. What do you think??

Beans and rice are totally vegan and much more healthy than snack foods. You can get literally buy bags of rice and beans for the same price you would pay for one box of cereal. But if you honestly think eating meat again would help, then do it!. But make it fresh meat in the package, not from TV dinners or frozen beef. At least not all the the time. :) I hope you figure out a good meal plan. I know how it is to not have much money to eat the way you want. i wish I could go raw too but we would be broke if I did lol

Being vegetarian or vegan is rather inexpensive. What you should do it forget all those veggie burgers or meat substitutes and stick to what is good for your body. Buying a shopping cart full of veggies, legumes, pastas, and fruits is much less expensive than buying steaks, chops, fish, and yogurt. Shop smart, learn to cook, and do your research. Of the 7.3 million vegetarians in the world you'd have to assume some of them are on a budget.

Being a vegetarian/vegan can be much less expensive, meat and dairy are not cheap. Plants, vegetables, beans, lentils, rice and pasta are cheap. Unless you rely on ready meals and artificial meats you will not be speng half as much as buying meat, cheese and other dairy products. You dont need to be raw vegan, you could stay vegetarian or better still become vegan. Look on the many veggie sites for ideas and log on to the Vegan Society website for a free starter pack.

Buy cheap staples like potatoes, rice, beans, bananas, and frozen/canned food. These are the cheapest foods at the grocery store. Raw veganism is probably one of the most expensive diets to be on considering fruit (especially organic) can be pretty expensive.

How can a steak or chicken nuggets cost less than a pack of rice or vegetables?

Maybe instead of going back to eating meat, change your vegetarian diet so that its cheaper.

You can get lots of good cheap vegan food, so if its just about money i would think of more recipes with beans, other legumes, and tofu which are very cheap.

If it's that much cheaper, I'd go back to eating meat. But if you REALLY want to be vegetarian I totally understand. Stay strong and eat those veggies!

You should have thought about it before going vegan without being of high/middle-high class.
