Are most airline pilots Ex-military pilots?

It used to be, long ago...

In the 1950's - 90% were military, to 50% in the early 1970's -

There are less and less military pilots becoming available nowadays -

Maybe less than 20% today -

Military pilot pay is now much higher than what airline pilot pay is for the first (10 ?) years -

Particularly with regional airlines -

Military careers are much more stable (and better benefits) compared to airlines -

Airline careers are not as attractive as they used to be to military pilots -

Airline pilot furloughs, bankruptcies and world economic downturns -

Remark:

Ex-Army helicopter pilots are over 75% of pilots employed by medevac and offshore operations -

Also in high number with police and fire-fighting helicopters -

Not any more. Because of military "downsizing" and budget cuts, there are a lot fewer military pilots than there used to be. AND there are more "airline" pilots than there used to be, so the percentage of pilots with military flight experience is lower now than it was, say... 50 years ago.

Hi A large part are ex military pilots for very good reason.

That's a primary source. Little training is needed as far as ATC rules go.
