Is it okay to ask your teacher "How are you?"?

So my teacher has just been sick, and I don't know if asking "How are you?" sounds too personal?

Instead of saying "How are you? " you try to say "How are you mam? ".It is really official and not personal. And can see respect and care in that words.A teacher should be polite and friendly when you mingle with them.

Simply ask, "How are you feeling?" or "You look ill, are you alright?". Easy.

Just say, "I hope you are feeling better."
