    General Motors (GM) is a large corporation whose primary business is building and selling automobiles. They were first organized in 1908 when they merged the companies that made Buick and Oldsmobile cars.

    General Electric (GE) is a completely different corporation that makes a wide variety of products ranging from household appliances to airplane engines. They ARE NOT related to GM.
