Is undercut upkeep too hard and should I get one?
I have to wear my hair up nearly every day for dance class and I don't own an electric razor so I'll probably need to get one before I shave it right? Will I always need a friend to shave it for me or can I reshave myself? I've always wanted one but my hair grows really fast. I'm not worried about growing it out, just about it growing and not being able to maintain it. Thoughts?

I'd imagine it would be a ton of upkeep, especially if your hair grows really fast, since an undercut can look bad if it's overgrown. If you're not getting a crazy design on your undercut, you may be able to shave it yourself if you buy an electric razor. Though I wouldn't recommend doing that since it seems like you could easily shave too much off that way and it will probably be difficult to see what your doing back there. And getting an even shave isn't as easy as it looks. So I think if your going to do this, prepare for a lot of trips to the salon. Personally I'm not a fan of them, and they seem to make people's hair appear thinner. But do what you want. Good luck!

Your right about all those things. Yes you will need clippers, yes a friend could help you, but there is no guarantee that they will do a good job. Yes there is a possibility to do it yourself, but not an easy thing. Maybe you can make a deal with a stylist in a salon to come in every 2 weeks for 15min for a quick trim.
But with all that said, the undercut is just another trend that is on its way out. You will only look back at the pictures of yourself and be like "why did I do that" your better off not doing it and learning to handle your hair better. And as a man and hairstylist I think it looks a little tacky. But please no offense. Good luck.

Well it's your hair but personally I feel undercuts can look a bit odd and not natural. Especially if you wear it up a lot.
I don't know I just don't like undercuts that much
