Makeup for small eyelids?

I have big eyes but small eyelids so I can't do a lot of the elaborate smokey eyes. Tips for what to do to make the most of my eye shape?

Do you happen to have hooded eyelids? If you do, this will be very beneficial for you (if not it still might be worth trying). So I have hooded lids, if you don't know what this is or looks like, try searching the lovely Jennifer Lawrence or Blake Lively- they both have hooded lids. For me when I first started doing my own makeup, I read a lot of tips and tricks from their makeup artists.

So one thing that can really help is to give yourself a false eye crease. This can be accomplished by taking a medium-dark brown eyeshadow and tracing your natural eye through your eye lid, or by tracing your eye-socket/beginning of your brow bone. Then just smoke it a little bit so its not too dramatic, but keep it in the general area. For the rest of your eye, just use lighter taupe/ivory colors.

Another thing is to do a thin winged eye liner. One mistake many people make is drawing the liner too thick, so when they open their lid, all you see is black liner. To make your eyes appear bigger, do a longer and thinner line, so that when your eyes are open you can still see a strip of shadow on your eye lid.

Also, don't line your under eye at all, that'll just make your eyes seem even smaller. Instead take whatever your darkest color of eyeshadow is and swipe it from your outer corner to about the middle of your eye. Then, get a fluffy brush and just blend it out. Lastly, get a very light (almost white) shadow and dab it in/on your inner crease. It will make your eyes appear bigger and brighter... it's like contouring your under eye.

Oh and a pair of Demi-Whispy lashes will do wonders!

    Hope this helps! :)
