Bringing food items to Australia question?

I know Australia is strict about what kind of food items are allowed in from other countries, but I was wondering if Maple Syrup from the US or Canada was ok to bring in? Like the fancy shmancy kind in the glass bottles and stuff (for gifts). I checked the government's website but can't really tell one way or another. I'm not talking about some weird home-made stuff, but bought commercially from a store. Anyone ever done that before? It is permitted?

Update:

To all the dinguses that are saying that maple syrup exists in Australia, this is a specific request (well I have a 1, 2, 3, list in that order) of single farm producers, which make batches too small to export. I am talking about the real thing, not some "100% Maple" stuff you see at a store which slops together from trees and farmers across thousands of square miles.

That would be fine, it's unprocessed plants, meat and dairy that are the main concerns.

I buy real Canadian maple syrup at my supermarket & it is available all over Australia so don't bother.

No problem, but be absolutely certain to declare it. Sounds yummy.
