Why couldn't we have sent the military to Iran all those we paid ransom/given up the Shah? It's not like they can stop us.?

    And then cons would be whining about failure and dead hostages instead of making up ransom stories.

    It was an owed debt, not a ransom. Anything that happened after was just collateral.
