Yes cold sores are caused by oral herpes but you don't have much to be concerned about here. Even if you do get it all cold sores do is cause annoying sores or blisters on the mouth. They are contagious but they're more likely to be passed while or around the time some one has a break out. Also they're more likely to be passed by kissing some one on the mouth while they have a cold sore.
Your friend would have to have a cold sore and the bottle would have to go from their mouth with in seconds to your mouth. If they didn't have a cold sore at the time then your chances of getting it from sharing drinks is very small.

Cold sores ARE herpes. Yes, you should be concerned. Why would you drink water from the bottle of someone with herpes?

Cold sores are herpes simplex just like genital herpes are herpes simplex. Do not share cups, bottles or anything else with someone who gets cold sores! That's why so many people have them!
