Why is the English name of the Danish capital called Copenhagen and not Copenhaven when the Danish name translates to "merchants harbour"?

    With your reasoning, the English name for Copenhagen should be Cobenhaven.

    Because it isn't a literal translation. English names of foreign places rarely are.
