Is it weird to ask what job I am interviewing for?

Someone called me a week ago and said there was an opening for a position. They said what job position was, and said they were going to see if they could get me an interview. I just got a call now and they said they were able to get me interview. I cant think for the life of me what the position was for. Is it weird to re-ask? It went to voice mail so thats why I am wondering before I call back.

Also, I hope I get no trolls since I need to know before I call back.

No, it's not weird at all. Most employers know that you are applying to more than one company and that it's easy to forget who they are or that you applied to a job with their company. All you do is ask them to refresh your memory and tell you who they are, what they do and what position they are calling you for. If they are a legitimate company and not a scam, they should have no problem doing this. In fact you could even look them up as they are speaking with you over the phone to make sure they are a real company. This way you know what you are getting into and you aren't walking into the interview blindly so to speak.

Hope this helps, and best wishes to you!

People forget that the job interview is bi-directional. They ask you questions to determine if they want you for the job, and YOU can also ask questions to determine if you think the job is right for you!

If there is no particular job mentioned, it might be that they don't actually have a job for you, they want to keep your resume in their files in case something comes up. Temp agencies do this! They'll advertise some specific job, and you call them up to ask about it and they say 'Oh, we have LOTS of jobs in that field!' So you go down, they interview you and test you, and then say 'Okay, we'll call you when we have something.'

Not weird at all. "I apologize but, I've been working with a lot of recruiters and scheduling interviews. What's the title for this one?"

It at least gives the appearance that alot of employers are interested in you. Don't torpedo that mystique with nonsense thank you notes and calls for, "status."

I don't think it's weird it's you already got the interview it's better to go in prepared than to go and not know what position you're being interviewed for
