Am I able to get an extra hard drive for laptop?

I have a practically brand new laptop (only had it for 2 years). Back when I got my laptop, it only came with 50 gb of free space cuz they wanted us to use the icloud for storage (apparently). Well, now 2 years later I have 1 gb left, so literally theres no storage left.

Just an fyi whenever I needed to save something I saved it onto flashdrive. So the memory that was used was literally just MS Office programs, Spotify, iTunes, and the Amazon Music app. Plus whatever 1,200 songs took up on iTunes (thats how much music I was able to get in 2 years) since I had to literally start over -- I tried putting music on from old laptop but thats when laptops had Windows 7 and it couldnt work on Windows 8 computer for some reason, so I had to re-buy music.

So my question is, am I even able to get another hard drive for my laptop? If specific laptop is needed to know if its capatable, I have Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

Update:

Just to be clear, I used flashdrives and an external USB / hard drive (whatever it called) up until now. In my question I was talking about internal memory. Anything that I can attach to laptop to add memory? Something that uses a USB for more storage?

THe only thing you can do is what you are currently doing. Other than an external HDD or a flashdrive there isn't any way to add or upgrade the internal msata HDD.

Yes, there is an exception to every rule. http://surfacepro3ssdupgrade.blogspot.com/2015/02/...

This is not for the average or even advanced PC user/builder. I can troubleshoot, build and upgrade desktops and upgrade laptop hardware. Would I attempt the linked procedure? No.

I disagree with PoohBearPenguin. Many laptops have a space for an extra SSD/HDD. Some come equipped with a SSD and have a space for the user to install a second 2.5" SSD/HDD. Others some with a SSD and another 2.5" storage drive already installed. Some do and some don't have extra space. To say that "laptops don't have the physical room for another drive" is a false blanket statement.

Not for the Surface Pro, in fact it might be tough to replace it with a bigger one. By the way it's possible to add a 2nd Hard Drive/SSD on large laptops. My 17 inch laptop has room for a second drive and I am planning on adding an SSD to it. If you have an SD Card slot add a card to it.

You can buy an external USB hard drive and use that.

However if you're talking about putting a 2nd drive inside your laptop, that won't work - laptops don't have the physical room for another drive.

You'd have to remove the hard drive from your laptop, and copy everything to a hard drive with more space and put that back into your laptop.
