Who were the "watchers" in biblical times?

The Watchers were believed to be cosmic angels who watched over humanity but fell in love with them and even interbreeding.

It is a very ancient legend that is based on an even older practice that began during the Neolithic revolution some 11,000 years ago when the discovery of agriculture spurred the need to watch the constellations in order to predict the seasons. Large stone monuments appeared to accurately chart the sun and the stars and the divination known as horoscoping emerged.

These extremely ancient astronomers were not only believed to possess divine talents but evidence suggests that they held more power than the leaders themselves - commanding human sacrifices when a strange new event in the sky emerged such as an eclipse. It is not surprising that some of these ancient men of power would also become men of lust, greed and satiation.

Naturally, these events - carried orally for thousands of years - became legends of angels and demons who watched the skies and the Earth and later fell in love with carnal desire.

The Watchers were `primarily` the Greys.
