Renault megane clutch problem?

I've recently purchased a Renault Megane hatchback 05 plate and seem to have a problem with the clutch. Firstly when I'm going up in gears and depress the clutch to change gear the revs strike up, secondly the clutch height is very high, this position doesn't allow me to hold a biting point on an incline, the car will simply stall if I don't give it some revs. Just wondering if anyone knows if the clutch clearance may need adjusting or possibly anything else? Thanks in advance.

Hi this sounds like the usual issue the clutch plate is worn so needs replacing. unlike cars built in the 1950's there is no adjustment required these days. so what can go wrong the other issue is when some changes a clutch on a car. there is three components that should always be changed. the components themselves are not expensive. however the labour changes attached to fitting them is. one component more than any other seem stop cause the most problems the thrust bearing failure to fit this when the clutch plate and cover plate are changed. does lead to further expenditure later as it falls apart in side the bell housing. the whole thing has to come apart again to replace it. whilst it has not been replaced caused damage to the new parts that where fitted. so extra expense is that all three need then to be replaced. Many amateur do it yourself and young and stupid teens make these mistakes.

so even fairly new clutch parts need replacing. the hydraulic system on some cars also gives cause for concern the master cylinder and alive cylinder may also be what is wrong as the foot on the pedal operates the master cylinder this in turn transmits fluid from the master to the slave cylinder fractured pipes an air in the system makes for problems.
