Tech question about computers and TV's.?
I just bought my first table top computer and i want to use my flat screen TV as my computer screen.
Now i do have the HDMI cord to do it and i have done this with my laptop many times but it does not seem to work this time.
I have put my TV on HDMI 1 and 2 as well and even put it on PC but nothing seems to work.
Don't suppose any of you fine ladies and gents can help me with this?

Check that you connected the HDMI cable to the correct HDMI port. Some computers have a built-in video processor, but also have a separate video card which is more powerful. Be sure you have plugged the HDMI cable into the video card's HDMI port and not the one that's on your motherboard. The computer is fine having 2 separate video chips - it simply ignores the one on its motherboard if it detects another video card.
If that still doesn't work you'll probably have to dig up a computer monitor so you can connect the computer to that, and find out what's going on. If the computer works with your monitor, at least you know the hardware is functioning properly. Set the monitor resolution to 640x480, then disconnect the monitor and connect the TV. You should get an image on the TV at this point. Now you can set the resolution properly (e.g. to 1920x1080 of a 1080p TV.)

Possibly you have to go into the video output settings on your new computer to change the output device to "external monitor." You didn't say what brand/model of computer or what operating system, so that's the best answer I can give you. On some computers this can be automatic, but not on others.
