Will filming in 1080p make a difference in quality if I play it in 720p?
Pretty much it. I m looking to make really good quality home movies, movies that are really crisp and clear, but I dont think my computer can handle 1080p b/c it s not that great lol.
Anyway, I know I can film in 1080p and watch it on my computer at lower qualities, b/c thats how it works on youtube.
My question is essencially, is there a difference in quality between a video that was shot in 1080p and watched in 720p vs. a video that was filmed in 720p and watched in 720p. Sorry, it s probs a stupid question, but I m a super noob at this stuff. Total layman.
I would just film in 1080p and watch at w/e lower resolution i needed, but I figure a camera that can film in 1080p is likely more expensive than their 720p counterparts. So it makes a difference to me.

as long as your computer is from the last 10 years it should play most 1080p videos....
also it depends on the way you encode it...
if you have a RAW 1080p video and convert it to 720p and go for the smallest and quickest you can go using h.264 you will have a nasty video with ALOT of artifacts...
do the same thing with any converter and it will be nasty...
you must convert with Handbrake setup for high quality conversion using H.265 and wait up to a day for it to finish. it will be MUCH smaller and nearly the same quality.
