Are rats good pets?

I would like to get two female rats. Are they good pets? Are they easy to care for? I am an adult so I am capable of caring for them. Anyone have rats? Thanks!

    Probably the best of the rodent pets, mice are OK too. They are smart and can learn tricks, even come to you in response to their names. Very social and even love to cuddle with you.

    Yes, two females would be best, nothing wrong with males, but unless they are fixed, they can have a strong urine smell, and get hormonal changes when they mature.

    I know I sure loved my rats.

    I love rats. They are very smart.

    Maybe too smart! My girls learned to pick the lo k on their cage, chew into their foodbah, go back in the cage e AND LOCK GHE DOOR!!!

    They can be a rel challenge
