Why can't I do My own cremations ?

Question

These days a average burial costs about $7.000 and up Cremations go for about $4'000 .A cord of wood and a few gallons of gasoline go for under $300 .So why not do it myself and save myself a few thou ?There should be parks out in the country where We can go and do it ourselves . Think about it Why are We forced to give a Funeral Parlor all that money when We can do it our self for a lot less . What do You think ?

Update:

The Vikings along with many other cultures from India to northern Europe performed their own cremations without the assistance of funeral directors so why are We being charged these extravagant amounts when our ancestors did it for free?

Because they do it safely with far less pollution. You are the kind to start a forest fire. Especially with the damage global warming has done and the droughts.

Cremation is only about $500 or less. So it's not a huge expense. The big expense is the "party" associated with burial. So your $7000 has nothing to do with cremation.

The human body is about 80% water.
It is not as easy to cremate as you assume. 
Then there are health laws.
A dead body is a really dirty and disease infested thing.

You don't pay a funeral home, you pay a crematorium.  They are licensed to do cremations.  You can become licensed too.
