History What percent of the British army was Canadian in the war of 1812 against the U.S.?

Please don't answer by stating "the country of Canada didn't exist" that is not an answer. What I am asking- is what percent of the British troops used in the war of 1812- were raised in North America vs what percent were pulled out of Europe?

Upper Canada was defended by about 1,600 British regulars, and a similar number of Canadian militia and Native Americans.

Most likely Canadian militia forces were used to fend off the American attempts at invasion, probably with British officers. The British Navy had Canadian sailors, but I think you'd have to comb through naval archives to get a figure for that. Likewise the British Army accepted volunteers from anywhere.

Canada had only been under British rule 60 years it was mainly French General Wolfe captured Quebec with troops from England they would be hardly be classed as Canadian by then they were British the French would hardly assist the British and the majority were French in that region
