My Lenovo all-in-one was purchased 15 months ago from Best Buy. Yesterday it made popping sounds and shut down. I smelled burning.?

Unplugged within seconds. Taking it to the Geek Squad tonight. Think it's completely hopeless? I can't afford another now, job loss and wife fighting cancer. Thing cost almost a thousand dollars including Office suite.

Obviously that s not good, but hopefully it was just something easily replaceable like the battery or power cord, otherwise if its out of warranty you could at least get your office suite licence for another computer.

Update: They were able to transfer all the data from the mother board, fortunately, to a new computer. I had unplugged it in time before any further damage was done. It was no longer under warranty, so total loss from the money perspective, but better than it could have turned out.
