  • Wife and holiday depression.?

It happens every year, and I can feel it now the week of Thanksgiving. It'll be worse near Christmas. I love the holidays, and this brings my family down. I don't know what to do. She sees a therapist, but her birth family were and are so terribly dysfunctional, that she has what I can only deem as a form of PTSD.

Her sisters have done some awful things such as take down another sibling's photograph from their elderly dad's fridge, mark all over it with a marker, and say that my wife did it. Another sister we unfortunately encountered in a restaurant, accused my wife of never having had tongue cancer, even though half of her tongue was removed and she lost weight she didn't need to lose. Those are just 2 examples of the awful things they can do.

So when the holidays near, everything seems to be a trigger. I don't know what to do.

  • Wife's evil sisters: How on earth do we get beyond this? There's not enough space here to describe decades of psychological abuse.?

Culminated in a restaurant last night. Drunk sister was there, in front of her friends. As with other times, came over and asked my wife for a hug. Outwardly, it looked sweet. But evil sister was whispering awful things to her. She even said aloud that she did not believe that my wife had tongue cancer this summer, which she most certainly suffered through. Evil sister claimed that my wife's statement that she had cadaver skin grafted to her tongue, held down with a big bolster sewn to what was left of her tongue, was false because they don't do skin grafts to tongues and she knows because she's a nurse.

True, she was a nurse, but because of her drug and alcohol addiction, she has not been able to work as a nurse for years.

This is just one sick example of the things this ***** pulls on my wife. And as the family bully, she has the ear of everyone else, who all refuse to stick up for my wife because they don't want to face the wrath of the evil one. Words were exchanged, ugly scene, we got the hell out of there without eating our meals.

Q: How do we deal with this, and it will continue for as long as the evil sister lives until her addiction kills her.

  • My Lenovo all-in-one was purchased 15 months ago from Best Buy. Yesterday it made popping sounds and shut down. I smelled burning.?

Unplugged within seconds. Taking it to the Geek Squad tonight. Think it's completely hopeless? I can't afford another now, job loss and wife fighting cancer. Thing cost almost a thousand dollars including Office suite.

  • Our little toddler has hand, foot, mouth disease now for the second time in under three months. Is that possible and/or abnormal?

The symptoms are fever, lethargy, bumps on face and feet. Pediatrician gave us "magic mouthwash", which helps, but she is miserable for the second time and it's heartbreaking.

  • Husband / father in adult dysfunctional family?

I'm not sure where to turn. My lovely wife of 30 years and our beautiful 21 y/o daughter, do not get along. I don't know what is behind the animosity, likely resentment and anger, but I don't know why. Our daughter gets mad at so much of what my wife says, whether kind or not so kind.

Last night, things fell apart again, over something small. I'm at our home up north, wife is visiting daughter in FL, so I'm not there to witness anything, I get calls and texts. Finally last night, my wife told me that I must support her by not communicating with my daughter at all. She hung up on me, and I didn't do anything to anyone.

Question: Is my wife correct? Should I stand loyally by her and as she asked, no longer communicate with our daughter? They are scheduled to see a therapist this Tuesday, though I'm not 100% sure our daughter will go. I'm going to try to compel her to do so.

Back story, my wife is estranged from her adult siblings, but it is mutual and two of them are horribly hostile and miserable women.

  • I screwed up with my daughter?

She's 20 and she got a really big tatoo. This one week after she dropped out of college, without telling us. I said angry things, threatened to kick her out of the house, said we would not pay for her wedding someday. Two years ago, she ran away with a scumbag. Once her money ran out, she came home. We've been ok since, but never as close. Then this happened, and I just don't think I can carry on. There are other things.... my job appears to be ending, and my wife very probably has lung cancer. She beat breast cancer ten years ago, but this is no ordinary setback.

At a time when I needed to draw family nearer, I pushed my daughter away. What did I do.....

  • How do I help my brother who had a total meltdown?

I'm middle aged, my older brother had a psychotic meltdown over a year ago. He was hospitalized, and treated by Dr.s with both therapy and heavy meds. He gradually weened himself from the drugs with his Dr's approval. I asked him to stay on the Welbutrin, but he was certain God had delivered him from the need. He found another job, making a fraction of what he once made. His family is not handling being poor well. He recently had sort of a relapse, is speaking with no one. He did go to his Dr and is back on some sort of meds. They take a couple of weeks to load.

How can I help his wife and kids? They live across the country, they are scared, and don't know what to do. I sent a grocery gift card to stock them up for awhile, but I don't know what to tell my sister in law. Yes, they have health insurance finally.

  • I have been a registered Republican since 1978. I am a fiscal conservative, but a social liberal.?

I am what you might consider "moderate". While "tea baggers" and religious right are the loudest constituents, I think you will find that we moderates are the majority. My question: How are we to choose from candidates who pander to the far right, the tea party, and the religious fanatics? I would actually prefer to vote for and elect a non-effective president than one who rules by ideology. I fear the loud and intolerant right. How will you reach me?

  • What's the cheapest way to resolve a slab leak?

Tear up floors? Tear down walls? File an insurance claim? Or is there a cheaper way to fix a slab leak?

  • Why can't I feel better?

Last March, lost best friend/father/job all at once. Had to move for new work, leaving behind my son who'd just graduated highschool. I can't shake this sadness. I grieve for everything that was.

  • Why does humanity suffer most from the hands of humanity itself?

Not just war, but anger, greed, deception, and so forth. So much is almost without explanation.
