Yugioh Lord of D. and Maiden with Eyes of Blue effect question.?

I m pretty sure I know the answers to these but just for my friend I have these questions:

I was able to equip my friends dragon type monster to my Underground Arachnid using UA s effect. The next turn, my friend summoned Lord of D. and said that he should get his dragon back because Lord D s effect negates Underground A s effect. Is he right?

Also he was wondering if Maiden with Eyes of Blue s effect activates if she is face down.

Firstly, Lord of D cannot negate anything, he can only prevent targeting. He can't do anything to an effect that targeted the Dragon before he arrived on the field.

Secondly he only protects Dragon-type Monsters. A monster who becomes an equip card is no longer a monster, it is a continuous spell card. So Lord of D isn't even protecting it after he arrives.

Maiden with Eyes of Blue can't use her first effect if attacked while face-down because the effect has to be used in response to the attack declaration, just like say, Mirror Force.

She of course cannot activate any effect while face-down, and by the time she is turned face-up, you are now in the Damage Step and it's too late to use her effect.

(Her second effect also obviously can't be used, but also clearly says 'face-up card')
