What have you learned about answer ratings in Y!A as a user in its "Politics" section?

I've learned the following:

1) Don't ever ask for a source for any claim made in a loaded question.

2) If you want "upvotes," tell the question's asker what (s)he wants to hear.

3) While adhering to the advice set forth in #2 above, be concise and hateful.

4) Post anonymously. Hyperpartisan idiots are likely "downvoting" you based on name recognition alone.

What have you to add? Thanks!

Answer Ratings do not mean nearly as much as they used to. Used to be you would get a point for each upvote if you got Best answer. Not anymore, best I can tell.

Also, enough down votes would hide the answer.

I disagree with your advice to post anonymously. I only ever do it when I am joking around in a controversial way, and don't want people to connect the answer to my avatar. Otherwise, I am proud of my opinion and don't give a Rat'sAss if nobody likes it.

I've learned that while I do post links for just about every question, and a good portion of my answers, nobody reads them, so far as I can tell. In sum, facts don't matter in ratings.

But most importantly, I've learned that I don't care about ratings or recognition, and that's why I post anonymously. If it's important to you, I'll try to remember to upvote you next time I see your answer, lol.

I've learned that those who pay attention to the so called rating system, have entirely too much time on their hands or way to invested in this place.

Gee where is the fun in that?

I like sharing my honest answers about the truth as I see it. If I offend people that is their problem not mine. I care not for upvotes, downvotes or even best answers!

I am just here to tell the truth as I see it!

You see I still remember the first version of YA where I was called a 'tin foil hat wearing conspiracy lunatic'...911 truther.... So why should I worry about what they think of me now?

FYI--- The first version of YA ended about a year before this version started.

I've learned that everybody here just loves me to pieces, and I haven't yet figured out how to get a downvote LOL.

Edit: Oh, come on, ladies! Not a single thumb down for me yet? I'll get it started. I'm going to thumb down every answer here - whether I like it or not. Even mine LOL!

I've learned that sometimes a TD is a badge of honor, and there is no reason to deny one's own beliefs in order to avoid such a prestigious gift.

I have learned that the best answers get the most thumbs down and the really spectacular ones are reported and removed .

    Source(s): That whole " hit a nerve " thing .

    I don't believe I've learned, anything.

Here is what you are missing about YA Politics: He who dies with the most account suspensions wins.
