How can the Bible be the inspired word of the one true God?

Why bother with a book at all? This is, after all, an entity that can manipulate quantities of matter and energy both vast and tiny, and can cause things that are otherwise impossible. And yet he needs to dictate.

The KJ uses words that do not have the same meaning today as they did 400 years ago when the KJ was written, take 1 Cor. 10:25 it says (everything you find in the shambles you may eat) what does the word shambles mean to you today?

More than likely you would say ( a mess, this place is really a mess) the word shambles 400 years ago meant (a meat market) if a person was reading that scripture in the KJ they would not understand the meaning of the scripture.

The New World Translation of the Bible & some other translations corrects this scripture with the words (meat market) now you can understand the meaning of the scripture. There are also other words that have been corrected also.

The Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible also uses the word (shambles) also.

Inspired doesn't mean dictated. The Bible writers were close friends of God who did their best to write down what they were learning from God. Each book was vetted by rabbis (Old Testament) or Christian leaders (New Testament) to verify its inspiration and freedom from error.

Translation is simply an effort to bring the scriptures to modern readers. Modern translations better capture the original message because the community of scholars has a better understanding of what the Hebrew and Greek words would have meant in their time.

No writing can be completely unambiguous, which is why God wants us to be a people of the Word, rather than a religion of a holy book, like Judaism or Islam. Jesus is the Word we are ultimately interpreting, and the church is the Supreme Court of interpretation.

That's the nature of translating anything from one language to another. Languages don't use the same se thence structure. They also have synonyms.

There's two basic methods of translating. One is to try to keep the translation as literally the same as the original. When doing that you lose readability because it's an awkward sentence structure for the language being translated to. The other is to paraphrase and capture the meaning using sentence structure that is more common to the language you're translating to.

If using the later method, you have options of synonyms. You can choose simple ones to make it easier to read or more precise synonyms which makes it harder to read. We have some translations at about a 4th grade reading level but most are at least high school level.

The original text is in Greek. You could always learn Greek and skip translations.

The Christian BIBLE is a collection of books and stories originally written by people who were followers of Jesus. Some of these stories were written down 100's of years after the fact and based on not 100% reliable oral histories and traditions. While the book MAY have been inspired by the word of God, it has been translated, edited and changed by people who are NOT biblical scholars, and SOME changes were made to comply with purely selfish or political interests.

Any book that is SOLD for PROFIT at thousands of retail outlets around the world should NOT be considered as the WORD OF GOD. It should be classified as religious fiction.

Because the language it was first written in that vast majority of the people on this planet do not know! Do YOU know the Jewish language? How could you know what is in the Bible if it was not translated to English or your language? It was just 500 years ago the Bible was first translated into other languages! Before then the Catholics controlled every move any person made and would only read the Bible in Latin to Prevent normal people from knowing what it really dose say and Mean!

With the Bible re-found in caves in 1947 in Israel, it was discovered that the Catholics had never kept it honest, extreme differences! So modern versions like the NIV are very correct. The NLT is very correct and done at a sixth grade level for easier understanding!

Firstly, you are ABSOLUTELY right in sayin that if God wanted his word to be unambiguous it would be. Therefore, if God exists then either He's incapable of making HIs word obvious or He doesn't want it be unambiguous. I suggest it's the later.

Secondly, if you read the bible you will find that God is very committed to giving men freewill. Were He to make HIs word unambiguous and obvious it would effectively reduce to a great extent or indeed eliminate mens freewill. Only idiots would not believe. Therefore, God cannot make things obvious.

Thirdly, the bible makes it plain that not only is the bible God's word but it also tells us that His word is LIVING and ACTIVE. To those who read words on a page this is nonsense. To those who know God it is LIFE itself. You see, we can read the same bible verses 1,000 times and not see a deep meaning in them because God isn't using those words to speak into our lives in those 1,000 moments. However, it can be after decades of reading those words that suddenly their meaning and application quickens our minds and hearts.

Fourthly, all this means that reading the bible is inextricably linked to a relationship with God. With no relationship the bible is at best well meaning and somewhat profound instruction. Yet in for those in relationship with God, the bible is God's primary means of communicating instruction and wisdom.

Viewing the bible in this context means that grappling which translation is right and which is wrong, is to some extent an intellectual exercise not born in the bibles primary purpose : relationship with God.

It's the word of God because God spoke directly to people who told it and people who passed it down to eventually be written and it was probably reworded several times, but not altered by point. It needs to change as new languages are formed and each language starts to reword how we spoke now. Also, it can be hard to tell what to interpret exactly.

For those whose lives have been wonderfully changed, it is the inspired word of the one true God my love.

I don't think most of us could read ancient Hebrew. That's why the Bible is being translated in languages around the world. Languages that we don't even knew existed.

That alone is an act of a loving God.

Most of us didn't know that Bibles are being translated in over 860 languages which include sign languages and braille. Also many North American indigenous people are now able to read God's word in their own languages, a true gift from a loving Father.
