Is there a formal procedure or method for the identification of redox couples from CV peak data (possibly using Eh-pH diagrams, tables etc)?
I am currently doing PhD research on gold leaching, part of which utilizes cyclic voltammetry. I have voltammograms with gold, silver and platinum RDE electrodes of NaCl, NaOCl, NH4Cl, CuCl2 (With N2, O2 injection and without gas injection) at pH 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and FeCl3 (With N2, O2 injection and without gas injection) at pH 2. I have determined the positions (current and potential versus Ag/AgCl) of all the peaks and I know how to determine E1/2, ne-, etc. The only thing I am not sure about is how to determine which peaks (reduction and oxidation peaks) pair to each other and how to assign peak pairs to specific redox couples. There are some I can identify through the literature (such as O2 and H2 gas evolution peaks etc.) and I can identify the silver chloride and silver oxide peaks with the silver electrodes from observations.

White dwarfs and neutron stars are prevented from further collapse due to electron and neutron degeneracy pressure, respectively, so, what allows a black hole to maintain and extended volume instead of being compressed all of the way to a singularity?
14 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 year agoCreationists: If God made the Heavens and the Earth (Universe) in the beginning, what did he make them out of?
Creationists often have a problem with the Universe from nothing concept in cosmology, so what do you think God made the Universe from? Nothing? A word? If you believe God made the Universe from nothing then why is it such a stretch for you to believe the Universe formed out of nothing on its own?

8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoHow can the Bible be the inspired word of the one true God?
If the Bible is truly the inspired word of the one true God then why does it need to be rewritten, translated and interpreted by humans so many times? Shouldn't an omniscient, omnipotent deity know how to be unambiguous?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoQuestion for creationists.?
You claim that humans are not animals so then where would you place humans in the classification of lifeforms?
Humans have the same types of cells as animals, backbones like chordates, 4 limbs like tetrapods, mammary glands like mammals and so on.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoAlien conspiracy?
There is an alien conspiracy to limit our scientific and technological development by starting as many ridiculous conspiracy theories as they can in order to hide their own nefarious endeavors. These are their goals:
1) To discredit science at every turn (especially evolution, cosmology, abiogenesis and geology), using creationists organizations, bloggers and YouTubers to put out antiscience propaganda.
2) To confuse people about the true oblate spheroidal shape, 4.54 billion year age and Heliocentric motions of the Earth and Solar System by encouraging belief in a Flat Earth, Concave Earth, Hollow Earth, Immovable Earth, Geocentrism, Expanding Earth, Young Earth etc.
3) To slow the progress of scientific advancement by replacing the correct theories of Relativity and Gravity by with discredited and obsolete theories of the Aether and Plasma Cosmology/Electric Universe.
4) To undermine the technological achievements of Mankind (and NASA in particular) by convincing as many people as possible that the Moon landings, space travel and satellites are fake and that Ancient Astronaut 'theory' is true.
5) To undermine the governments by trying to convince as many people as possible the terrorist attack on 9/11 was an inside job and the Holocaust was fake.
6) To cover up the involvement of humans in Climate Change.
7) To undermine modern evidence based medicine by encouraging belief in homeopathy.
Open your eyes people!

Creationists are often advocating that science classes teach the weaknesses of the theory of evolution. Why is it that they never demand that anyone teach the weakness of creationism?

18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoNeighbors from Hell?
How does one deal with serial complainers. There is an old lady that lives next door to us that likes to complain about every little thing. She complains just about every day about noise. No matter how much we try to comply it is never good enough for her. She complained about the noise from a fan for crying out loud. She has done nothing but harass us since the day she moved in. She wants to get us kicked out of our home and wants to sabotage our chances to live anywhere else, She is petty and vindictive and I want it to stop. I live in Western Australia.
What can I do about it (legally of course)? I mean things like restraining order, sue for defamation etc?

8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhy would a loving God send unbelievers to Hell to burn for eternity instead of sending them somewhere less unpleasant?
It's a bit like buying a puppy from a pet store and then torturing and killing the ones you don't want instead of just leaving the unwanted puppies at the pet store and then claiming to be an animal lover.
27 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhy should anyone trust creationists over scientists when it comes to science?
If you don't have a degree in it, haven't published peer reviewed scientific articles on it haven't studied it and don't understand it then why should anyone trust anything you have to say on the subject over those of us who do? What makes you think you are more qualified to judge the merits of a scientific theory than the scientists that have spent their entire professional lives studying it

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoShould atheism and evolution be taught in churches?
Creationists often say things like; evolution is a religion, atheism is a religion, both creationism and evolution are different points of view of the same evidence therefore they should both be taught in science class and let the students decide, alternate explanations should be taught alongside evolution because it is only fair, things like that.
If evolution and atheism are religions (which they aren't) then they should be taught in their churches alongside creationism. If creationism is science (which it isn't) then alternate points of view such as atheism and evolution (as written in the textbooks) should be taught alongside creationism at places like Creation Ministries International and they should let their congregation decide which is true because, after all it would only be fair. And while they are at it the Greek mythology should be taught along side the Bible in Sunday school.
