Two versions of genesis?
Are there two versions of Genesis because God messed up the creation of then Universe and decided to have a do over?
By two versions I am referring to the two different creation stories.I hope that is clear enough.

Genesis 1 and 2 are not two different creation accounts. They're complimentary, which is why they're chapter 1 and 2.
The key is that there are 2 different perspectives/focuses, hence the transition verse which reverses the order:
“This is the account of the HEAVENS AND THE EARTH when they were created, when the Lord God made the EARTH AND THE HEAVENS.”
Genesis 2:4 NIV, emphasis added

Instead of assuming that God doesn't know what He is doing, try being unique and assuming the opposite. You will be surprised at how much detailed information begins to leap out, though it will require the most challenging kind of mental acuity and discipline to resist the temptation to see contradictions where they do not exist. The two accounts fit together perfectly and tell an elaborate and detailed narrative. However, God anticipates that those who read it will be in possession of basic reasoning skills and would never foolishly assume that the Author is deficient in any way to the reader.

Clearly chapters 1 and 2 in Genesis do include two different accounts of creation.
Most believers contend that the two different accounts are describing the same creative act.
The chapter 1 account
- is chronological
- includes an overview of the creation of all things known to the author
The chapter 2 account
- is NOT chronological (e.g. compare v 8 to 15, and there are other clear indications)
- describes many specific details of creation that are not covered in the chapter 1 account
- also omits many of the details of creation that are briefly described in chapter 1
So: yes, they are two accounts of creation, but **they are not contradictory accounts**. From the point of view of many Christians they are *complementary* accounts of creation.

It's about POV.
Genesis 1 is from God's vantage point.
Genesis 2 is from man's vantage point.

No there is not. Gen 1 describes the six day creation and Gen 2 focuses on the 6th day, and includes God's planting of Eden where he put Adam after creating him.
Public schools are letting this generation down in reading comprehension.

They are "different" in that they are divergent, not contradictory. Chapter 1 is an overview of the entire creation week. Chapter 2 is just a more detailed account of the sixth day, man's creation.

there is only one book of Genesis in the bible
Day 1: heavens, earth, light, day and night.
Day 2: the "dome" (sky) that separates the waters below (on earth) from the waters above the sky.
Day 3: dry land and vegetation.
Day 4: stars, moon, sun.
Day 5: water creatures and birds.
Day 6: land animals; humankind (both male and female). The number of human beings created is not specified. Also, God here gives to people "every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food" (Gen 1:29) -- no prohibitions.
Day 7: God rested, and blessed this day.
earth and heavens; no rain yet but a spring would well up and water the ground
from dust, man was created (not woman yet)
garden of Eden -- man is put here; garden includes the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil
God tells man to till and keep the garden of Eden, but not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (note that Woman has not entered the scene yet! Man is alone).
God notices that Man is alone and wants to find him a helper and partner, so He first creates animals and birds and Man names them. But still there was no helper as partner.
God makes Man fall asleep, pulls out a rib, and makes Woman.
The story of original sin then ensues.

The flood happened because the world's system of thinking became overrun by viruses and parasites (just as it is getting these days) so God reformatted.
