Creationists: If God made the Heavens and the Earth (Universe) in the beginning, what did he make them out of?

Creationists often have a problem with the Universe from nothing concept in cosmology, so what do you think God made the Universe from? Nothing? A word? If you believe God made the Universe from nothing then why is it such a stretch for you to believe the Universe formed out of nothing on its own?

The question itself is illogical, since the supposed particulate matter would also logically be part of the 'universe'. Thus it becomes a philosophical question, the point at which you cease asking the question, directing its cause beyond mere observation.

"By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." (Psalms 33:6)

creatio ex nihilio. God spoke the universe into existence. The universe did not self-create. God is not a created being. God is supernatural. Something does not come from nothing, apart from the supernatural act of God.

    You missed a significant detail:

God /created/ the universe ... God did not /make/ the universe.

"the Universe formed out of nothing on its own" is a scientific and philosophical contradiction.

Nothing forms nothing out of nothing "on its own" (an "own" which does not exist at that point).

This reflects the First Law of Thermodynamics ... that matter/energy cannot produce new matter/energy.

    (and nothing certainly cannot).

Theists have a sufficient cause for the universe.

    Naturalists have nothing but nothing.

BTW, we don't know ontologically what energy is.

    (I am not a "young-earth" creationist.)

The science of mathematical probability offers striking proof that the Genesis creation account must have come from a source with knowledge of the events. The account lists 10 major stages in this order: (1) a beginning; (2) a primitive earth in darkness and enshrouded in heavy gases and water; (3) light; (4) an expanse or atmosphere; (5) large areas of dry land; (6) land plants; (7) sun, moon and stars discernible in the expanse, and seasons beginning; (8) sea monsters and flying creatures; (9) wild and tame beasts, mammals; (10) man. Science agrees that these stages occurred in this general order. What are the chances that the writer of Genesis just guessed this order? The same as if you picked at random the numbers 1 to 10 from a box, and drew them in consecutive order. The chances of doing this on your first try are 1 in 3,628,800! So, to say the writer just happened to list the foregoing events in the right order without getting the facts from somewhere is not realistic.

35 However, evolutionary theory does not allow for a Creator who was there, knew the facts and could reveal them to humans. Instead, it attributes the appearance of life on earth to the spontaneous generation of living organisms from inanimate chemicals. But could undirected chemical reactions relying on mere chance create life? Are scientists themselves convinced that this could happen?

LIFE is everywhere around us. It is evident in the humming of insects, the singing of birds, the rustlings of small animals in the underbrush. It exists in the icy polar regions and in parched deserts. It is present from the sea’s sunlit surface to its darkest depths. High in the atmosphere tiny creatures float about. Beneath our feet untold trillions of microorganisms are at work in the soil, making it fertile for the growing of green plants, which sustain other forms of life.

2 Earth is packed with life so abundant and varied as to stagger the imagination. How did it all start? This planet of ours and all its inhabitants—how did they come to be here? More particularly, how did humankind get started? Did we evolve from apelike animals? Or were we created? Just how did we get here? And what does the answer imply for the future? Questions like these have been around for a long time and they are still unanswered in the minds of many.

3 Perhaps you feel that these questions do not really affect you. You may think: ‘It doesn’t matter how I got here—I’m here. And I’ll probably live for 60, 70 or maybe 80 years—who knows? But whether we were created or we evolved, it changes nothing for me now.’ On the contrary, it could change a great deal—how long you live, the way you live, the conditions under which you live. How so? Because our entire attitude toward life and the future is influenced by our viewpoint on the origin of life. And how life came to be here will definitely affect the future course of history and our place in it.

Obviously, there are profound differences between the theory of evolution and the Genesis creation account. Those who accept evolution contend that creation is not scientific. But in fairness, it could also be asked: Is evolution itself truly scientific? On the other hand, is Genesis just another ancient creation myth, as many contend? Or is it in harmony with the discoveries of modern science? And what about other questions that trouble so many: If there is an all-powerful Creator, why is there so much war, famine and disease that send millions to an early grave? Why would he permit so much suffering? Also, if there is a Creator, does he reveal what the future will hold?

It is the aim of this book to examine such questions and related issues. The publishers hope that you will consider its contents with an open mind. Why is this so important? Because this information could prove to be of greater value to you than you may yet realize.

There is no evidence for or against the universe having an infinitely long past. Physicists and philosophers remain unsure about what, if anything preceded the Big Bang. Many refuse to speculate, doubting that information from any such prior state could ever be accessible.

I'm not a six 24 hour day Creationist. However I m convinced by evidence that God created the earth and everything on it as well as the universe in which it exists and all other created things.

The Bible tells us that God has dynamic energy. While it isn't specified that this was used because the Bible isn't a book of science about the creation of the all created things. We know from the science that mankind has that energy can be turned into matter and matter can be turned into energy. So it would be reasonable and logical to think that God by means of an active force used energy, his dynamic energy, to create the matter that physical things are made of.

what did he make them out of?

    - All of that "nothing" that all of that "something" came from.

So you think matter has the (IRONICALLY) god-like ability to self generate? How did that happen?

The Life Force that created the galaxies also created your brain and He tells you NOT TO lean on your own understanding - He is happy to give you wisdom as a gift.

He will not allow you to understand in any other way - or you would boast! No arrogance is allowed in the kingdom!

You do not have (wisdom and understanding and discernment) because you never asked. You never asked because you are too proud. You are too proud because you think you are special. You think you are special because you think you have things figured out.

The theist claim is it all came from nothing. God apparently 'poofed' it all into being with a breath. I wonder a 'breath' of what, if no air, or anything else existed yet.

The theist claims are virtually meaningless nonsense, they have no answers.

According to theist claims, 100% lack of evidence is proof of something.

If it isn't there, was never there, and will never be there, that then proves to them it is there.

Somewhere in there the "logic" falls apart on them.
