The bible is also against consumption of certain types of food, but that probably doesn't stop you from eating a bacon cheeseburger, does it? The bible is against tattoos, but you probably don't condemn those who have them. The bible condones rape and genocide, but most Christians, I imagine, are against those sorts of things.

If you truly love your cousin, you will admit that perhaps the bible got this wrong (or the men who interpreted "the word of God" got it wrong) and accept that your god made him this way.

Keep in mind, even if there is a god, and even if he provided us his word, humans had to do the transcription, and they may have made a number of changes to suit what they wanted.
