Is it OK to break up with a long-distance girlfriend by text?
I know a local relationship should be ended in person, but what about a long-distance one?
I want to send her a breakup text on October 19th. I was going to tell her that I'm not boyfriend material, and that she shouldn't be involved with a loser like me.
We are not sexually active, by the way.

Never break up with someone by text. That's rude and cowardly. Break up with her in person, and as Christina said, if in person is not an option, then use a service like Skype, Google Hangout, or similar.

In my opinion, breaking up with someone should never be through text, instead it should be in person or at least through facetime/skype. It's better to tell her what you think with your expressions. She would be more understanding rather than through a text. Most girls wouldn't appreciate a breakup through text.

One, barring extraordinary circumstances, it's not OK to break up by text. This requires at least a phone call.
Two, do *not* bullshit her with garbage like "you shouldn't be involved with a loser like me." Insulting her judgement isn't OK. If you don't want to be her boyfriend, just say so.

In my opinion, never break up via text. FaceTime, skype or phone calls are the next best thing to doing it in person

Depends in how the relationship is going. If there's large problems, then that's just fine. Otherwise, if this will shock her, then consider some other way.
